The New Masters

“A strange Astrological phenomenon has been reported recently by leading members of the scientific community. According to their reports, stars have been slowly disappearing in the night sky, destroying many well known constellations. No cause to this unusual occurrence has been recognized….’’ The News reporter continued but I was barely listening.
There I was strung out on the sofa on a Friday night with nothing better to do then half listen to some random women rabble on about stars.  My mother ran into the room slightly out of breath
“Mark and I are going out tonight. ‘’ She said while hurryingly putting on her makeup.
‘’Whoopdee-friggin-doo’’ I replied, while staring at the ceiling. I could tell she was upset about the comment but decided not to answer.

A few minutes later and Mark, my mothers boyfriend, arrived. He was an okay guy, it’s not like I was angry with him, I was just….Angry. Now I know that teenagers are supposed to get mood swings but this was different. It was like the world was severely pissed off and was channeling that through me. Mark and my mother had left to go on whatever date they had planned, which left me alone to revel in my own anger. Showing an unprecedented display of willpower I decided to go for a walk and burn off all my energy.

Okay this is getting ridiculous Thought Sora as the figure before him blocked his attack yet again. Sora had been battling this man for the past half hour and he had yet to land a single hit, every time he moved in to strike with his Keyblade the man blocked the hit with his staff. “Give up young one, you cannot win’’ said the man in his cold deep voice.
‘’We’ll just see about that wont we?’’ Sora replied angrily. The man gave a chilling laugh and lunged suddenly, knocking Sora off balance.

Walking down the street, lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed  the group of people  that were gathering near the construction site for the new bank building, until someone knocked me out of the way to join the group that is .‘’Hey watch it!’’ I shouted at him, but he didn’t even turn around. ‘’What’s all the fuss about?’’ I muttered under my breath and ducked under some people to get a good look.
There on the ground was a bubbling pool of some kind of black liquid. It looked like a cross between tar and vomit, but it didn’t have any kind of smell. Suddenly an ear splitting shriek, coming from the pool tore through the air, sending everyone recoiling away from it.
People gasped with a mixture of disgust and amazement as an arm emerged from the ooze, then another. Paralyzed in fear, wanting to run but found my legs frozen to the ground I watched as a small  dark creature with glowing yellow eyes and stubby antennae fully grew out of the dark pool.

Sora was defeated now, bound by black chains to the cold floor, the man standing above him looking triumphant. ‘’What is about to happen, even you cannot stop’’ Said the dark man, almost sadly. Sora struggled against the chains and spat out ‘’At least tell me who you are before you finish me off!’’.  The man gave another chilling laugh and replied
‘’Finish you off? Oh no, you are not going to have the satisfaction of deaths quick embrace, I have a much worse fate planned for you. But, when you are writhing in pain and anger, shouting to the heavens for an end to your torment you will remember the name of the one who defeated the mighty Sora, Master of the Keyblade. I am the ruler of the Night, controller of the dark forces who haunt the edge of mens dreams, and I am the one who will be known throughout the universe as the one who brought an end to light. I am Sycore!’’

Chaos. That was what had descended upon the people. When the creature first appeared, everyone was more curious then frightened, looking at it strangely as its antennae twitched left and right. Just as everyone was getting used to its presence, It began its evil purpose.
One of the closer people, an old man with an ornately decorated cane, stepped forward to get a better look at it ‘’Well hello there.’’ Said the man to the creature in a soft voice ‘’Are you lo…’’ The old man never got to finish his question as the… Thing grabbed him by the arm and displaying an extraordinary amount of strength for something so little, tossed him onto the ground. The man gasped as the Thing violently jumped onto his chest.
We all looked on in horror, too petrified to move, as it lowered its head towards him. The man suddenly began to stiffen, opening his eyes and mouth wide. Gasps and shrieks of horror erupted from the crowd as a stream of bright yellow and red light began to flow out his now opened eyes and mouth and into the creatures vile body. It seemed to be… Eating whatever the flowing flickering light was. And as the lights stopped and the creature reveled in its feast, the mans body began to deteriorate, shrinking and blackening until all that was left, was another dark creature standing next to a discarded cane. Silence descended on the crowd as their minds just processed what happened. Then, someone screamed.

So this is how it’s going to end, Thought Sora as Sycore prepared a portal the Void, ‘’what is the Void?’’ he asked partly himself and partly to his adversary.
‘’The Void is a strange place. A dimension outside of time and space, where all is unmoving and unchanging. It is truly a terrible punishment, where you remain unchanging in nothingness. It will drive you mad if you don’t attempt to take your own life’’ He replied with the barest hint of a chuckle. The very thought of that sent a shiver down Soras spine. And while I’m taking an eternal nap in Limbo, no one will be here to stop this madman! Thought Sora furiously, There is nothing I can do to stop him, He finally realized in defeat. Sora had finally lost
Sycore approached Sora and picked him up by the scruff of his neck, absolute in his defeat, Sora offered no resistance. With me gone, No one else has the power to stop him Thought Sora in what were to be his last moments in his dimension. Just as these thoughts ran through his head, He felt a familiar warmth blossoming in his chest, the feeling of the Keyblades power. Thoughts and images that were not his own suddenly flashed through Soras mind. His Keyblade splitting into beams of light. A dark Gummi ship flying through space. A small group of people all holding Keyblades into the sky.
The Keyblade was showing him of way he can help. You can split our power and give it to others, others who can defeat Sycore! Sora thought to himself and to the energy within him Please, do it now, we don’t have much time!
As he barely finished these thoughts, A searing heat coursed through his body. It burned within him growing and searching for a way out. Sycore abruptly dropped Sora just outside the portal to the Void, as the heat burned through his skin ‘’What trickery is this?’’ He shouted enraged. Sora could not reply even if he had wanted to, the energy prevented him from speaking. The heat was now melting the chains of Soras body, running down his skin and clothes like water. Finally, and with a resounding explosion, multiple bolts of light exploded through his skin and flew in every direction, sinking through the walls and ceiling and vanishing from sight.
Sycore was both stunned and speechless by this display. But what really left him dumbfounded was that Sora calmly stood up, dusted himself off and said in cheerful yet mocking voice ‘’Now you have a whole new generation of problems to deal with’’ and willingly let himself into the portal.

Damn it Damn it Damn it, why are they following me! Was pretty much all I could think as I raced through the construction site, the two Shadow creatures chasing me. I ducked behind a low wall trying to lose them ‘’I need a weapon’’ I muttered under my breath. Desperately I looked around for something I could use to fight them off with. All that there was around me were bricks, Heavy machinery (which I had no idea how to operate) and some pipes. The sound of shuffling feet came from somewhere behind me, they were getting closer. I rolled forward from my hiding place and grabbed the nearest pipe, holding it in front of me in a defensive position. The two Shadow creatures were perched on top of the wall, staring at me with their dirty yellow eyes. For a second they stayed there, clamped onto the wall, then they lunged simultaneously. I reacted without thinking and ducked; the two creatures overshot and flew over my head. They crashed on the dusty ground and struggled to untangle themselves from one another. I took this as my chance to fight back. Raising the pipe high over my head I swung it as hard as I could straight down. The feeling as the pipe hit the creature was something like striking a bone that was tightly wrapped in a mass of cotton bolls, soft but with a hard core. I had hoped this attack would scare them off, but now they looked angrier than ever.
Quickly freeing themselves from their entanglement one of them grabbed me by the arm and flung me a few metres away into a wall. It didn’t hurt all that much, but it knocked the wind out of me. The two came closer, realizing victory was near. Even as I lay slumped against the wall, I wasn’t going to give up ‘’Your..ugh.. not going to have… the satisfaction.. of having…an easy meal!’’ I grunted as I picked myself up from the wall. If I was going to go down, it would be kicking, screaming and fighting the whole way. Suddenly the two practically snapped their necks trying to look up in the sky, instinctively I followed there gaze. For the fewest of moments I saw a bolt of pure white light shooting down from the heavens, heading straight towards me I closed my eyes bracing for impact, then it hit.
The feeling I had when the light hit me was like nothing I had ever felt before, it was pure unyielding energy, bonding with every molecule in my body. For a moment I felt truly alive. However as quickly as it had begun, it ended. I opened my eyes, the shadow creatures were still there, rooted to the spot staring in complete horror at what was in my hand. To be honest it was just as disturbing for me as it was for them. The pipe which I was using to attack the Shadow creatures with was gone, and in its place was something… else. It looked like a sword that was modeled vaguely after a key. Not a modern key, one of the old ones that were used in castles and historical monuments. The blade was a bright white colour that reflected the settings suns rays, and almost at the tip of the blade on one side was a sharp ‘’W’’ like thing sticking out. The creatures were still staring at it and I realized ‘’they’re afraid of it’’.
Experimentally I waved it in their direction. At the sight of it approaching they ran for dear life, stumbling over each other to get away from it. I laughed in relief and called out to them ‘’that’s what you get for messing with Jason Morrigan and his… What the hell am I gonna call this thing?’’ I wondered aloud to myself. Keyblade The word popped into my head ‘’Well it fits, that’s for sure’’ I mumbled.
